The national league of the islands. Men, women, a second division, a cup, and a table that does not lie. Sample clubs on this website are a design season — replace them with the clubs you actually register.

Competitions

ZNBL Men, Division 1

Eight clubs in this draft. Home and away. Playoffs for the top four. Last place plays a promotion game against the Division 2 winner if that winner can meet arena standards.

ZNBL Women, Division 1

Six clubs in this draft, growing to eight. Full home-and-away is a 2027 target. Until then, publish the real number of games so the table is not pretending.

Division 2

Fed by the six regional leagues. A published table. Promotion only into a venue that has a roof or a reliable dry-season plan, lights, and changing space.

Spice Cup

Knockout, men and women, after the league split. A club outside Division 1 may enter if it finished top two in its region.

Schools Shield

See the schools page. It is a Federation competition with its own commission member, not a favour.

3x3 Island Series

See the 3×3 page. It crowns its own champions and feeds the national 3×3 pool.

Rules of the house

FIBA rules, with 10-minute quarters
Shot clock: 24 seconds where the arena has a working clock. Where it does not, a visible 30-second manual clock, two operators, and the limit written on the scoresheet. No ‘we will feel the time’.
Roster: 12 players dressed, 10 eligible if that is what you adopt — pick one number and print it
Eligibility: registered before the window. A player may not appear for two Division 1 clubs in the same season.
Forfeit is 20–0 and a conduct review if the forfeit was a no-show without notice
Ramadan: tip times move earlier or later by a published plan. The fast is respected. The game is not cancelled as a default.
Results go to the Federation the same night. The public table updates when the commissioner confirms, not when a fan posts

Season shape — draft

Regional leagues: July to September. ZNBL: October to March. Spice Cup: late March. Playoffs sit inside the ZNBL dates, not after people have gone back to sea and to farms without a goodbye.
